1. How does blogging motivate students?
To publish freely to the Web mean a lot for students. Everyone likes to have their own choices, especially students in their puberty. If they can publish freely to the Web, they know the teacher is not the only audience of their writing, they'll write more and carefully.
2. Why should a teacher use blogs?
As I mentioned above, blogging can motivate students' interest in writing. The teacher needs to create his/her own blog first, so that he/she could guide the students. And using the blog to be the assignment platform is good to save digital footprints. We can ask students to submit their assignment by commenting under the assignment thread with the link of their work in their own blogs, so that both the teacher and the students keep their e-portfolios on their blogs.
